Cheetos campaign is a little random
Cheetos commercials have taken the route of Starburst and Trident spots. If you don't believe me, check out the newer commercials. Do you feel like buying a bag now?

Gives ya' fever
I have mentioned before that I am not a big fan of car commercials. However, every now and then, there is a real gem that I feel needs a bit of fanfare. In this case, it is the 2010 Honda Accord Crosstour. However, while I like the commercial, I am not feeling the car. Maybe when I see it in person?

Wal-Mart will clown around
How fitting, I like clowns as much as I like Wal-Mart. However, who thought that this was a good idea? Am I supposed to feel like shopping there now?

What I have against jewelry
I love jewelry-making. I took a metals class when I was in college and jewelry-making is a tough and difficult art. However, I cannot stand the jewelry commercials that pop up during the holiday season. I understand that the holidays are big for retailers. I have nothing against people trying to sell stuff. I do not like this terrible stereotype that all women want necklaces and rings.
So, I'm not married (too young), but if my presently non-existent boyfriend ever bought me a ring, necklace or earrings, I'd be disappointed. Mostly because I am a huge electronics fan. However, if he put some work into it and chose something that isn't covered in diamonds or gold, I might enjoy it.
You might say, well diamonds are forever, gold is precious, bla bla bla. I worked at a jewelry counter. I've seen the last minute gifts that consist of some odd carat diamond and 24 k gold. Choose something other than a diamond. Sapphires and topaz are gorgeous. Pearls are classic. Emeralds are beautiful. Even something as surprising as old soda bottle caps can become really awesome earrings. So what I have against jewelry is its commercialization. The ease of just buying something without a true meaning. But hey, I'm only one woman. Let's hear some other opinions (I'm open to them).

Cellular symphony
I stumbled across this video today. Using 1000 cell phones, Vodafone created a symphony by playing text message jingles. Hats off to Vodafone New Zealand.

Timeless

Recently, I spoke with my sister about logos. We were talking about the Holiday Inn rebrand. I was saying that for many companies, routine brand updates are essential. However, one company that we both agreed looks good no matter what is Coca-Cola. Despite its age, it has such a fresh look. Of course, this can be attributed to their unique commercial and print ads, however, I believe that Frank Mason Robinson did something great with Coca-Cola's logo. I don't regularly like script typefaces, but this is one that I can get down with. Hit the jump for some classic and recent Coca-Cola advertising.

Great car commercial
Usually, I do not like car commercials. I hardly pay attention to them, but I really like this Toyota car wash commercial. I think it does a great job of getting the message across while still being subtle and creative. Kudos to the advertising agency for a job well done. For more information about Toyota, read here.

Sweet rant
I'm really fed up with commercials displaying women as being overly concerned with eating sweets. I mean, physical health is very important as is eating a balanced and nutritious diet, however, I have to put my foot down at these advertisements. Some of the worst commercials often show women worrying about eating a piece of cake (or something similar), but opting for a cup of yogurt instead (an obvious Yoplait reference). I don't know what crazy planet these people are from, but no amount of yogurt will ever equal one delicious slice of cake. Besides, what harm does one slice of cake or bowl of ice cream really do? Chances are, you can easily work off the extra calories (if you count them) and be just the same as you would be anyway. I am probably biased because I love baking and eating sweets, but I'm still a size 6—I'm sure to some of you, that's super fat, but not me. So, dear readers, please, tell me if I'm wrong, but do we really need to stress out over whether to eat the whole cupcake?Image via flickr/Ban Bakes

My beef with Apple
I love Apple products. My Mac is excellent, I have a great iPod (not the newest though), and the service has always been exceptional. However, I cannot stand Apple's commercials. Obviously, Apple has a great slew of products, but why can't they come up with great ads? The clean look is nice, but the subject matter is played out. Until they stop Windows bashing, I'm pretty much ignoring them. When they come out with something new, I'll be surprised.
