A few of my favorite things (part un)

Aside from the fact that I am making small steps to learning French and placing some random bits of it in the title of this post, I thought that in the spirit of the season, I should share some of "my favorite things". Just like the song from The Sound of Music, I have some things that I prize above others. Unsurprisingly, the beginning of my list is God, family and friends—therefore, I am not listing them. From there, it becomes other things. Look forward to a small installment of favorites, this being the first part. Hit the jump for the rundown.

Kittens with whiskers—No jokes. I love kittens. I have one of my own.

Hot chocolate—Something about warm hot chocolate topped with a hefty dollop of whipped cream just makes me happy. I love it

Ice cream—Utter deliciousness. Ice cream brings to mind childhood happiness and spontaneity. I really love Italian ice cream the most (stracciatella first, melon second), but I am satisfied with Baskin Robbins or Coldstone as well—especially if it has mint chocolate chip.

Houndstooth—this is my absolute favorite pattern. It beats argyle, damask and plaid. It can be bold or subtle, classic or modern, and fabric or print.

Fleur de lis—there are several symbols and icons that are used in many cultures, but I love the fleur de lis. It's not just my love for French culture that causes this love either. I am a fan of the simple design and the shape of the symbol. Not only that, you can make it highly decorative. That is probably why I like it the most.

So, there are a few of my favorite things. Look for more to come. If you didn't notice, none of these pictures are mine. Since they aren't, if you decide to use them somewhere, please give credit where it's due.
