It's Been a Long Time

It's been so long since I last blogged that I am not certain where to begin. I guess that the best way to go about this is to play catch-up. I've made a lot of things, so look forward to a variety of DIY posts to come.

You've probably already noticed that things have become a bit cleaner in terms of design. I felt the need for a change. There are still edits planned for the design, so check back often.

Nail Biting

Yes, reader, I am one of those people. I don't "bite" my nails so much as run them beneath my front teeth. However, even if I do not bite/chew/strain my nails, they still break. It's an annoying habit, but one that I feel confident in stopping. You see, whenever I become completely engrossed in a project, my fingernails become victims. My latest project? Well, to be honest, they are projects:

NaNoWriMo 2011! I really enjoyed participating in this last year, so I am getting a head start on outlines and development this year.

Etsy! I have technically had a shop for almost one year, but I have yet to sell anything. Reason? I'm slow. I want to sell crocheted goodies. Nothing very expensive, but small things you can wear or use.

Baking! If you read my blog, you see the results of my baking.

So, not a huge list, but three things that are taking up my time. This is in addition to me playing video games, watching Netflix, reading, and dancing (in private far away from anyone). However, I feel that I need to give my loyal readers a sort of update as to why I haven't been posting a lot. As always, there is more to come.

New Newfoundjoye

I feel obligated to blog about my blog's new look. I thought that the previous look was a bit stale, so I refreshed it! It's part of my entire refreshing attitude that has sprung up this year. Look forward to new updates as well as ongoing series such as my BOM Cupcake Challenge. Thank you for reading and I appreciate your comments!

Better late than never

The year 2011 has been around for ten days and I've just resumed blogging. There are many excuses I could offer to you (I'm crocheting a tablecloth, I have been working on the Sketchbook Project, I'm playing video games...), but nothing changes the fact that I don't always have the time to blog. So, my sincerest apologies for the lack of posts, but I'm back in action. Also, I believe that I kept last year's resolution: to blog.

I posted all kinds of things in 2010 and many of them will continue this year—movie reviews, my BOM: Cupcake Challenge, Thursday Traffic, etc. Some items will return with more dedication like DIY projects. So, while it might be a late start, Newfoundjoye is still around.

After a long moment of nothingness, I plan on adding more about books to Newfoundrhapsody. I have a library of reading materials to share and dissect, so if you've wondered why it's never updated, you can actually see some posts in a few days.

Instead of Threadless in my sidebar, you can expect to see Society6. I like the way it works much better. You can purchase prints or clothes, so check out my studios if you have the time.

I look forward to posting more in 2011. Please, return for more.

Update | NewfoundRhapsody

So, if you recall, I had shut down my latest brainchild, NewfoundRhapsody, just last week. I rethought, reconsidered and re-purposed this blog for a different concept. I love illustration, but I wasn't motivated for NewfoundRhapsody at this time. Instead, I am going to rebuild NewfoundRhapsody as a way for me to share my writings. These aren't award-winning novels or anything, but I am proud of them and I am glad to let anyone read them (and lucky you, you get to read them for FREE). So, go ahead and add NewfoundRhapsody to your bookmarks. There will be some literary goodness for you in the days ahead.

Closing NewfoundRhapsody

Maybe it's just the week-long deadline or the fact that no one is really participating, but either way, I am closing down NewfoundRhapsody. I may open it some other time, but for now, I'm shutting it down. Instead, I may post some of my own images here for your viewing pleasure.

Been out of town

I've been out of town this past weekend, thus the reason why I had no updates. However, I am back in action again. Look forward to more posts later today including a quick rundown of my first visit to Chicago. To all of my readers, thanks for checking out newfoundJoye and I am deeply appreciative of your time.

Update | 40 Days of Holiness

As many readers are well aware, I have been practicing 40 Days of Holiness as a challenge presented by the pastor of Alfred Street Baptist Church during the monthly Come As You Are (CAYA) service. The basic idea is that if for 40 days, we can be holy—truly striving to be like Jesus—we can achieve a better relationship with God and a better outlook on life.

Today is the official halfway mark of 20 days. How have I been doing you ask? To be honest, readers, I have slipped. I notice that whenever I don't act holy, I feel guilty about it and I've been feeling guilty lately. Mostly, I have been impatient, lazy and a little blunt, but I don't like these qualities. However, these 40 days are not over and I am sticking with it. Have any of you started taking the challenge? If so, sound off and let me know how it is going.

Doesn't time fly?

So, I've been blogging for four weeks as of today. Hopefully, those who read the posts here at newfoundJoye enjoy the content. I know it's all kind of sporadic, but that's sometimes how my thoughts are. Please continue to stop by whenever you like. If you've got eyes, I can find something for you to look at. I've been coming out with eye candy for a while now. Also, you can look forward to more game reviews and recommendations as well as author spotlights and do-it-yourself projects. Film reviews will be forthcoming and possibly more design and fashion. So, here's to you, the readers of newfoundJoye.
