Can this still be called Newton's Cradle?

The oh-so-popular desk toy of executives from the 90's has been recreated by Yasutoki Kariya as a thesis project. The catch is that instead of the usual metal spheres that are indicative of the kinetic toy, lightbulbs are given center stage. There is probably a great rationale behind the creation, but I just thought this made perfect eye candy for a Monday.

Yo Yo A Go Go

Some of the most intriguing things are those that are the most simple. Check this little fun video out for some neat yo yo tricks.

Brown Bag Lunch

I've known quite a few people that wrote sweet messages on their children's brown paper lunch bags. I thought it was really cool, so I did the same thing for my sisters for a while. However, one father—sorry, dad—has a much better idea. He draws nostalgic and popular cartoon and video game characters on his children's lunch bags. For more eye candy, check out tumblr.

Calling the "Pink Flamingo"

Maybe flamingos have their own superhero, and this is their call for the "Pink Flamingo"?

On games and graphics

Todd McLellan's works are like real life Dismantlement games except there isn't a bomb to worry about. Instead, your eyes can feast on a creative, motion-filled photograph of a disassembled mundane object from a clock to a typewriter. For more on Todd, check out his site. If you are intrigued by my vague mention of Dismantlement, check out the addictive, short point-and-click flash games.

Awwwww....

Don't even pretend that you didn't gush slightly at the sight of this picture. You became strangely jelly-like and felt happy, didn't you? Maybe? Possibly? Well, if not, I hope you enjoyed this eye candy just the same.

Now in season

I love candy corn, if for no other reason than the fact that they are candy. Hope you are preparing for a fun Halloween, reader. If not, enjoy this literal eye candy.

Hot hot hot!

I think that I will always like hot air balloons. I think it is the fact that I also enjoy regular balloons. Either way, here is a little eye candy for your Monday morning (been a while, hasn't it?).

Up above

The Yann Arthus-Bertrand Gallery has several beautiful photographs to capture the eye. I thought I would share the image above with you. The first image was shot in Argentina. You can view more information about it here. The second image is a view from gardens in France. For more about that image, read here.

Box life

You've probably come across many images of Danbo. He's a robot that originates from the manga Yotsubato. The slice-of-life graphic novel is filled with the adventures of a girl and her adoptive father. In one chapter, the Danbo robot makes its debut. We are all instructed to think outside of the box and people truly have. These images are much delayed eye candy for you. Hit the jump for my other favorites. For more, visit 2photo.

Festivities

Fat Tuesday passed and many people really enjoyed themselves during the day. I think that the images from The Boston Globe's The Big Picture show some very amazing aspects of the various celebrations. Enjoy some of my favorites here and go to The Big Picture for the full effect.

Bright idea

I stumbled upon this image the other day. These little light bulb terrariums are quite nice. If you are interested in making them yourself, follow these instructions. If you would like the finished product, buy them on Etsy.
